Consorzio prepares for Lineapelle London presentations

Tuscany’s Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium (Il Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale) will host a seminar at the forthcoming Lineapelle London exhibition, which takes places on July 9 at The Ham Yard Hotel.

A first presentation, ‘Inherent Vice and the Virtuous Cluster: the case of Tuscan Veg Tan Leather’, will explain how tanners in the region take a by-product destined for landfill and transform it into a strong and durable material of value. It will also detail how the processes used generate organic fertilisers and return purified water to Tuscany’s agricultural areas. 

In addition, Diane Becker, the designer who oversees the Consorzio’s ‘Craft the Leather’ programme, will deliver a separate presentation that discusses the challenges that heritage crafts, such as leathermaking, are facing in today’s world. 

Entrance to the seminar is free to anyone with an entry pass for Lineapelle London.
