Leather a ‘noble’ material for the furniture industry
Design na Pele, a project coordinated by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) that draws on the inspiration from fashion and design to promote innovation in the leather sector, has brought together three tanneries and three design studios, all from Brazil, to work on a project for Italian furniture group Natuzzi.

They have collaborated to design a new collection that made its debut at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York (May 19-22). The pieces from the Collezione Ginga Natuzzi Editions for DNP will be made available at Natuzzi’s shops around the globe.

Discussing this new project, CICB said: “This edition of Design na Pele follows a worldwide trend already adopted by Natuzzi Editions: the expression of leather as a noble cover for the furniture industry, highlighting the value and differentials of this material, with an extreme quality care in the selection of the skins. All conceptions were guided by the word Ginga, giving life to pieces with creativity, fluidity and grace.”

The three tanneries that took part were Gobba Leather, Indústria de Peles Minuano and
Luiz Fuga, while the design studios were Estúdio Bola, Furf Design Studio and Lattoog.
