The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) group, which campaigns for hazardous substances to be eliminated from waste streams in the fashion supply chain by 2020, has announced the addition of six new companies to its list of contributors.

The most notable of these from the point of view of the leather industry is chemicals manufacturer Lanxess, which joins as a value chain affiliate for the chemical industry. It is joined in this category by FGL International, a producer of auxiliary chemical tanning products for wet end with a high value.

Nicca Chemical Co. and S&D Chemicals, which both specialise in chemicals for the textile industry, also join ZDHC as value chain affiliates from the chemical industry.

The other two new contributors to the ZDHC programme are US retailer Target Corporation, which becomes a signatory brand, and Trueway Corp, a Taiwanese fabric manufacturer, which joins as a value chain affiliate for the textile industry.
