USMEF elects new president

The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has elected Dr Dennis Stiffler, as its new chairman. Dr Stiffler is president of the Texas Division of Halpern’s Steak and Seafood. He was previously chief executive of lamb and veal packer and processor Mountain States Rosen and has 30 years of livestock, meat industry and international marketing experience in total. He also spent 10 years teaching and researching meat science at major universities, including New Mexico State and Texas A&M.

On taking up the post, Dr Stiffler said: “It is very important that we as an industry continue to promote the safety and quality of our US meat products. In addition, we had better listen to the market and to our customers.”
