Mixed results for US car sales

Luxury brand Porsche reported a 1% increase for the month, with 4,516 sales. However, sales of its SUV Macan grew strongly, with 51% more deliveries at 1,871.
During the month, Porsche celebrated its one millionth 911 (pictured).
Subaru of America reported 52,057 vehicle sales for June, an 11.7% increase over the year-ago month, and the best June in its history. The automaker also reported year-to-date sales of 304,810 vehicles, a 9.1% gain over the same period in 2016.
However, both Hyundai and Kia sales were down for the month.
Hyundai reported 54,507 sales, a 19% decrease compared with the June sales record set last year. "June was the second month in a row we've cut back significantly on fleet sales and seen a rise in retail sales in an industry that is down on the year," said Sam Brnovich, executive director of sales for Hyundai Motor America.
Kia Motors America reported June sales of 56,143 units, 11% below the 62,500 sold in June 2016.
Last week, BMW has revealed it will invest $600 million between 2018 and 2021 in its plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, which it describes as its “largest manufacturing facility”.
