Infiniti shows love for leather in latest model

Infiniti, the luxury arm of Japanese carmaker Nissan, will present its latest model, the QX Sport Inspiration, to the European market at the 2016 Paris Motor Show (October 1-16).

Several types of leather are used for the vehicle’s interior in a range of shades. Many of the surfaces are covered in black saddle leather, with the finish and shaping of the material designed to highlight the natural qualities and feel of the leather and emphasise the handcrafted design.

The upper dashboard is covered in white leather, a harder matt leather lines the doors and the steering wheel is finished in Nubuck leather. The contrasting black and white leathers are joined with silver stitching. The dashboard and doors have a trim in the hide’s natural tan colour and deep brown has been added to mark the model’s European launch.

"We experimented with a range of tailored and handcrafted materials throughout the interior, and our designers have used these different materials to dictate the form, contours and finish of the cabin,” said Alfonso Albaisa, executive design director at Infiniti. “The combination of different types of leathers – both hard and soft to the touch – result in a more organic, natural finish."
