The first of these will be the new QX50 SUV, production of which will begin in the coming months at its manufacturing facility in Dalian. The vehicles built in China will be sold exclusively in the Chinese market.
"Over the next five years Infiniti is planning to localise five new vehicles in China, tripling our sales here in our fastest growth market, globally," said Roland Krueger, chairman and global president of Infiniti.
Infiniti operates in China via a joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Company. In 2017, it sold a record 48,408 vehicles in China, an increase of 16% compared to the previous year.
This announcement comes ahead of the Beijing International Motor Show (April 25-May 4), where Infiniti’s Q Inspiration concept car (pictured) will also make its Asia debut. It is the latest stage of the brand’s investment in electrified vehicles.
