Aston Martin to build its first all-electric car
Luxury automotive brand Aston Martin has confirmed that production of its first all-electric model, the RapidE, will begin in 2019.

The vehicle will be based on the company’s Rapide AMR concept. It will be a four-door sports car with an all-electric powertrain replacing the six-litre V12 engine. Williams Advanced Engineering will assist Aston Martin in the creation of the car.

Aston Martin said the development is part of its low- and zero-emission vehicle strategy, which was laid out in the company’s Second Century Plan. Dr Andy Palmer, company president and CEO, said the RapidE demonstrates Aston Martin’s desire to “embrace radical change”.

A limited run of 155 RapidE models will be manufactured.
