World’s most expensive handbag sold

The rare Himalaya Niloticus crocodile Diamond Birkin 30 features 18k white and gold and diamond details and easily beat the pre-sale estimate of $2 million, according to auction house Christie’s, who described it as a piece of “fashion history”.
The final price was said to represent the combination of the handbag’s rarity and the quality of leather and craftsmanship that went into it. The previous record was set in 2015 when a Hermes bag sold for $222,912, also in Hong Kong.
