Brazilian tannery group JBS Couros has opened its doors to students in Colorado do Oeste, Rondonia, as part of a collaboration with the Federal Institute in Rondonia (IFRO) to attract the next generation of workers into the leather industry.

Students take part in tours of the tannery and JBS representatives outline its environmental initiatives.

Rafael Vilas Boas, JBS Couros’ regional manager in Rondonia, said: “This type of action is very valuable for everyone involved. The students have an opportunity to see what they learn in the classroom put into practice, the institute is able to refine its courses with field visits and the company has a chance to get to know future professionals who may be able to join its work force.”
