The chairman of Egyptian tannery Piel Color has said Kenyan footwear producers could benefit from strengthening ties between the countries.

Speaking at Cairo Inter Leather trade fair, to a delegation from the African country, Hisham Gazar cited Egypt’s mechanized slaughter processes as the reason for the country’s high quality skins, compared with the mainly hand-slaughtering techniques used in Kenya.

He told local press: “We are certain of attaining our mutual interests through this cooperation with Kenya.”

Cairo Inter Leather took place between March 3 and 6, and hosted 200 exhibitors.
