Joint-president of the Italian Egyptian Business Council, Khaled Abu Bakr, has said leather production should be a key focus for business co-operation between the two countries.

Speaking to media in Italy during a visit by Egypt’s president, Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi, at the start of December, Mr Bakr said industries such as energy and mining had great potential and mentioned a new logistics hub at the port of Damietta and a high-speed railway linking Alexandria, Cairo, Aswan and Luxor as other major projects on which he hopes Italian and Egyptian companies will be able to work together.

“The tanning industry will also be part of the common goals between Italy and Egypt,” he added.
