Leather industry gears up for Lineapelle
22/02/2016
Organisers have published an economic overview of the sector for the fourth quarter of 2015, in which they say the prices for calves, steers heifers and bull calves were stable from October to year end, with minimum monthly variations, while cows showed more substantial variations.
Bulls posted a decline in October and then became stable until year end.
Average sheep prices went down during the quarter, though the decline in October was partially counterbalanced by the increase in December.
Many tanners outside of the automotive sector have been lacking solid orders for 2016 and are expecting to gain a better indication of leather demand during meetings at the show, according to the author of our Leather Pipeline report.
José Fernando Bello, executive director of Brazilian tannery association CICB, said: “Italy is a trendsetter in the world of fashion. Lineapelle is a reference in terms of leather innovation.”
World Leather will report from the show this week.
