IULTCS opens applications for Young Leather Research Grant

09/09/2015

International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies is once again encouraging young scientists (under 30) to  research topics that will advance the understanding of leather manufacturing through its Young Leather Research Grant (YLSG).

The first grant of €1,000 was awarded in January  to Dr Yunhang Zeng from Sichuan University with her research proposal to study the mechanism of enzyme action in beamhouse processing.  Enzyme assisted processing is an area of much interest around the world and supports the IULTCS goal of a more sustainable leather process.

Proposals are now being accepted for 2016 award, administered by the International Union Research Commission (IUR), with a deadline of November 27.

Dr. Zugno, chair of the IUR, said: “As the YLSG becomes better known we look forward to even greater interest from students and researchers around the world. To have one’s research recognized as worthy of support by an international body such as the IULTCS should provide incentive beyond the monetary value of the grant.”

Details of eligibility requirements, application procedure, and necessary documentation are available on the IULTCS website or on its Facebook site.
