Impressive response to IULTCS call for papers
03/07/2015
From 196 abstracts submitted from leather chemists and technologists around the world, the commission has approved 183 ideas for papers. Professionals from 24 countries have submitted academic research, connected to the nine central themes.
President of the event’s scientific commission, Buckman’s Luis Zugno, has said a significant proportion of the ideas submitted suggest that chemical solutions focused on nanotechnology and production alternatives with lower environmental impact are becoming increasingly important in the industry. Dr Zugno added that a significant number of proposed papers deal directly with environmental issues.
The nine themes for the congress will be collagen, new sustainable developments in leather production, innovative technologies, new developments in chemistry for the leather industry, energy and machinery optimisation, advanced analysis in leather, health and safety, design, fashion and marketing and global requirements on carbon footprint and other areas that can affect leather production.
Of the 183 approved abstracts, the highest number (51) comes from China, followed by Brazil with 39, India with 27 and Turkey with 19.
