It was acquired by JBS in 2009 as part of its deal for beef processor Bertin.
JBS has invested $8.3 million in the unit, creating 500 direct jobs.
"The cattle farming industry in Tocantins is one of the most modern in Brazil and continues to expand,” said Renato Costa, president of the JBS beef division. “The cattle in the state offer first class genetics and given the quality of local animals, suppliers will be able to meet the quality standards JBS guarantees customers of all product ranges.”
In February, the group announced it was buying Italian tannery Conceria Priante.
The group has 200,000 staff worldwide and exports to more than 150 countries.
