CICB says Indian trip was a success

A special commercial mission that Brazilian tanning industry association CICB helped set up at the start of February for four tanners from the South American country was a success, the organisation said afterwards.

As well as taking part in the India International Leather Fair in Chennai from February 1-3, the Brazilian delegation took part in meetings with buyers and in technical discussions with potential Indian customers.

CICB president, José Fernando Bello, said the companies that had taken part had formed a positive impression. “The Indian market is quite promising,” he said, “and we ought to increase our presence there. One of the big challenges for the Brazilian leather industry in 2015 is to diversify the markets we sell to.”

The tanners that took part in the trip to India were Curtume Cubatão, Hop Ying, Coming and JBS Couros.
