‘Solid performance’ from Le Cuir a Paris
Organisers of Paris-based leather show Le Cuir have published figures for September’s event, which show a 4.5% decline in visitors, a result which was seen as a ‘solid performance’ given disruptive air strikes around the time of the show.
Nearly 60% of the 16,231 visitors came from overseas, including a 16% increase in those from Italy and the US, 13% more from Japan and 20% more from South Korea; the 432 tanners reported high-quality visitors.
The Craft the Leather competition, co-organised by the association of Tuscan tanners, the Consorzio Vera Pelle, and the Tuscany regional promotion board, Toscana Promozione, attracted 1,000 votes from visitors and fans of the Facebook page.
The winner was Louise de Groote from Belgium, a student at the London College of Fashion, for her interpretation of vegetable-tanned leather.
From next year’s show, scheduled for February 10 to 12, the event will be known as Premiere Vision Leather.
