'Natural’ stays in fashion leather buyers’ favour
Fashion leather buyers at the recent Le Cuir a Paris leather show in France showed a keen interest in natural, aniline or lightly coated leathers, but were also drawn to bright laminates, say the show’s organisers.
Vegetable-tanning still has “the wind in its sails”, buoyed by progress in making skins softer, rounder and more sensual.
Soft, full-grain calf leathers, presented by Tanneries Roux, were popular. Young bull, with its attractive round grain in a nubuck finish, from Rémy Carriat, was sought for upholstery and leathergoods.
Crispy calf from Conceria Stella and biodegradable articles from Rompa Leder generated interest, as did leather laminated with neoprene by Desa Deri.
Suede, in lamb or goat from Conceria Stefania, or baby calf from Alric, in matt finishes, and fashion laminates from Hosbo, Eurofur and Pusipiel also attracted buyers from the world’s big fashion houses.
