Kenyan tannery bosses join leather taskforce

The director of Sagana Tanneries, Yassin Awale, and Alpharama director Sambasiva Rao join Bata Shoe CEO Alberto Errico, Samuel Kiruthu, a director at Leather Technologies and Fashions, and John Muriuki, head of the Kenya Leather Development Council. Alongside director of industries Erastus Kimuri, leather trader Robert Njoka and leathergoods representatives Nalina Rupani and Mumtaz Mughal, they will serve for a year and oversee the industry’s “development strategy”.
“This taskforce, has been appointed with a clear brief to share their wealth of experience on how the leather sector can be developed to create jobs,” said cabinet secretary Adan Mohamed.
