Leather shoe manufacturer opens in Addis
Gelila Manufacturing has started production of export-standard shoes and soles at Bole Lemi Industrial Park in Addis Ababa after a two billion Birr (£13 million) investment, according to the Ethiopian Herald.
The company's production stands at 2,000 pairs of shoes per day but will rise to 4,000 pairs per day once it reaches capacity.
Alemayehu Seifu, deputy CEO of the Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC), said: "This operation will not only generate foreign exchange but also create job opportunities and add value to the leather sector.”
