The prime minister of Ethiopia, Dr Abiy Ahmed, has paid tribute to the director of the hub that the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) runs in Addis Ababa.

After five years in the post, Aurelia Calabrò’s term of office, which included work with the leather sector in Ethiopia, came to an end at the end of June.

Presenting her with an award to thank her for her work (see image), the prime minister said Aurelia Calabrò was “a true friend of Ethiopia”, who had developed a deep understanding of local context and had shown “an unwavering commitment to the nation’s development”.
