Mipel to take place in a ‘complex moment’
08/03/2022
The Italian leathergoods sector is worth €7.5 billion in turnover, has 4,200 companies and 33,000 employees.
Franco Gabbrielli, president of Italian leathergoods association Assopellettieri, said: "Mipel confirms itself as a particularly valuable strategic moment for the sector and for all the players involved: buyers and companies, especially small ones, eager to meet each other, keep up to date about news and trends of the sector, get inspiration, meet each other, as well as do business.
“We hoped with this edition to see Russian and Ukrainian buyers again, but unfortunately in the light of international events, this will certainly not be the case. The ongoing conflict saddens and worries us and we hope it can be resolved as soon as possible.
“In addition to the enormous humanitarian tragedy, the war has serious economic implications for all those involved and the markets of each country. Precisely for this reason, we hope for a rapid resolution that will help us all start again together.
“In the meantime, we don't want to miss this important opportunity to share, keeping the spotlight on our industry and its future."
Mipel 121 will be held at Fiera-Milano Rho alongside shoe fair Micam Milano, The One Milano and HOMI Fashion&Jewels.
