Assopellettieri re-elects Franco Gabbrielli as president
Italian leathergoods manufacturers’ association Assopellettieri has re-elected Franco Gabbrielli as its president for another two-year term. Mr Gabbrielli’s re-election was confirmed at the organisation’s annual general meeting, which took place online on July 22. Vice-presidents Stefania Orselli and Andrea Calistri were also re-elected.
Assopellettieri said it was pleased with the entrepreneurial approach that Franco Gabbrielli had brought to the role. He is the founder and still principal designer of Cesena-based handbag brand Gabs.
It also paid tribute to ideas he has introduced, such as sharing an annual ‘state of the industry report’ and an initiative called Mipel Lab, which will aim to connect Assopellettieri members with luxury brands at home and abroad.
After the meeting, Mr Gabbrielli thanked his colleagues for asking him to continue in the role of president and said he would work hard to repay their faith in him. He added: “I am pleased to be able to continue to offer my contribution as an entrepreneur, making my experience available to help others, for the future of the association. The challenges that await us are many but I am sure that, together, we will be able to face them and further consolidate Italy’s global leadership in the leathergoods sector.”
