India’s Mensa adds Estalon to portfolio

Indian startup Mensa Brands, based in Bengaluru, which specialises in acquiring and scaling tech-led, direct-to-consumer brands to enable them to reach a global audience, recently added local leathergoods firm Estalon to its stable.

Estalon, which operates out of Kolkata, marks the Bengaluru group’s entry into the leathergoods sphere. The family behind the enterprise has reportedly been engaged in leather manufacturing for three generations, specialising in leathergoods for women.

It currently reaches United States-based shoppers via Amazon.

Speaking on behalf of the company he founded only last year, Mensa Brands chief executive, Ananth Narayanan, commented: “We envision Estalon becoming a leading global leather accessories brand from India with its strong product line and quality leather workmanship.

“The Estalon team has decades of experience in leather manufacturing and we believe that with Mensa’s complementary skills in technology, operations and brand building, it is poised to achieve a high growth rate of five times the market in the next three to five years.”

Estalon’s founder, Mohammed Mobashir, added: “It feels great to be part of the Mensa family. The Mensa team’s expertise and enthusiasm will help expand our brand’s footprint and achieve the growth goals we have set together.”

Mensa Brands is now home to around fifteen brands across the apparel, home and beauty and personal care segments, local media said.
