Mumbai expansion project increases TFL dye capacity
Leather chemicals group TFL has completed a project to increase the dye-manufacturing capacity of its facility in Mumbai.
This expansion has increased its capacity to produce key leather dyes in the Sellaset and Sellafast ranges by 40%, TFL said.
The project also included process changes to improve the quality and consistency of the dyes and an enhancement of a dedicated dyes research and development centre, housed at the Mumbai site.
Upgrades at the wider facility included a new effluent treatment plant and powder transfer system, improvements to the dust-collecting system, new forklifts and new packaging machinery.
TFL said it aims to grow its leather dyes business by taking advantage of business opportunities that have come from the recently completed acquisition of the rrganic leather chemicals business of Lanxess.
Chief executive, Dr Wolfgang Schütt, commended TFL’s local team in India for completing this project safely and under budget, despite restrictions caused by the covid-19 situation.
