Versace reveals interim chief executive

Effective January 17, Cedric Wilmotte will report directly to chairman and chief executive of Capri Holdings, John D. Idol, in the role of interim chief executive. He will also work closely with Versace chief creative officer, Donatella Versace, Capri stated.
Mr Wilmotte will join the Italian luxury house from sister company Michael Kors, where he has been president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region for 13 years. Prior to this appointment, he held leadership positions with Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan. His work history encompasses periods spent in London, Milan, Paris and New York.
Commenting on the news, Mr Idol said: “I am thrilled to have Cedric in this role, as he has an exceptional breadth of luxury retail expertise. He did an outstanding job leading the Michael Kors brand in EMEA. I am confident that under his leadership, Versace will be able to continue to execute on its growth strategy and build upon the brand’s incredible momentum.”
Mr Wilmotte’s contract with Versace is currently due to expire on December 31, 2022.
Capri stated that it will continue to search for Mr Akeroyd’s permanent replacement.
