Versace bets on revival with updated La Greca maze monogram

Capri Holdings-owned Versace unveiled a reinterpretation of its La Greca maze print across leathergoods and ready-to-wear during its pre-recorded autumn-winter 2021 season presentation recently.

Debuted by models moving within a modern, labyrinthine structure, the new Versace La Greca code is similar in style to the decorative meander or Greek key pattern. It is accompanied by the Versace logo in varying styles and an array of colour combinations.

The maze-like monogram, hand-picked by Donatella Versace after an internal competition, was teased by company executives back in early February. According to Bloomberg, CEO of Capri Holdings, John Idol, told analysts at the time: “I believe this unique signature pattern is going to change the trajectory of the company significantly over the next 24 months.”

On the design, the brand commented: “The geometric pattern has sharp angles, clean lines and a strong palette that represents power and self-confidence.”

A well-funded marketing campaign is expected to boost the La Greca-patterned products’ official launch come autumn, Bloomberg said.
