Lambskin and leather reflect the outdoors for Burberry
Luxury brand Burberry has relied heavily on leather in its autumn/winter 2022 pre-collection, the first designed by chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci alongside model Lea T, a friend of the designer.

Mr Tisci said: “I wanted to explore a different experience bringing my collections to life, so I have decided to open up my pre-collection to a new creative voice each season. Someone special to me who inspires me and whose unique creativity surrounds me in my personal life.”

The collection delves into the outdoors. For women, the trench coat is reconstructed as a bib, in a patchwork of beige and neutral shades, or in dark truffle brown lambskin. There is tactile faux-fur outerwear in a camel mohair-blend or a coat with layered leather lapels.

The men’s collection offers a “daring approach to classic outerwear” including a bomber jacket with accents of black leather and a cut-out Thomas Burberry monogram and a distressed leather peacoat with exaggerated lapels.

Footwear includes leather over-the-knee sock boots, leather lace-up boots with contrast topstitching, leather sandals and leather loafers with polished logo graphic studs. There are stiletto-heel leather sandals and new quilted lambskin sneakers.

New bags include the Elizabeth, a classic crossbody style in black, warm tan and midnight navy leather, detailed with a logo graphic embossed front closure. There are also new interpretations of the Rhombi bag in black quilted-check lambskin or a caged design in dark birch brown leather and a cotton blend and its signature Olympia bag is available in cool beige embossed calf leather. The collection also includes a canvas and leather holdall in dark birch brown and a quilted monogram lambskin tote.
