All brands contribute to strong Kering first half

Luxury group Kering has reported first-half revenues of just over €8 billion, an increase of 54.1% compared to the first half of 2020.

Group chief executive, François-Henri Pinault, said the figures for the first half of 2021 had slso “comfortably exceeded” 2019 levels; they were 7.7% higher. He added that the pace with which revenues had picked up in the second quarter of this year had been remarkable.

Revenues from e-commerce over the six-month period were up by 78.5% year on year and represented 14% of total retail sales.

Kering said all of its brands had contributed to its strong performance. Gucci posted first-half 2021 revenues of nearly €4.5 billion, an increase of 50.3% on a comparable basis year on year, returning the brand’s revenues to pre-pandemic level.

Yves Saint Laurent’s sales for the period amounted to just over €1 billion and Bottega Veneta achieved what the group called healthy growth across all distribution channels, generating revenues of just over €700 million, growth of 45% on a comparable basis. Kering said Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen had also delivered outstanding performances.
