Sacai and Dior partner in first collaboration
High-end Japanese fashion brand Sacai and Paris-based luxury goods house Dior, owned by LVMH, recently unveiled the fruits of their first ever collaboration, described by the French brand as a “creative conversation between two designers, two heritages and two cultures”.
Creative director for Dior Homme, Kim Jones, designed the collection alongside Sacai’s founder and creative director, Chitose Abe.
Featuring a total of 57 fashion, footwear, leathergoods and jewellery articles, the primarily black-and-white collection incorporates materials such as leather, Japanese denim and technical fabrics.
Dior heritage designs such as the Saddle bag have been reimagined with Sacai-inspired elements such as pockets and drawstrings, with nylon added into the leathergoods mix.
Commenting on her participation in the project, Mrs Abe told WWD: “Dior is a very respected heritage brand which I’ve admired ever since I decided to become a designer, so this is a huge honour.
“I’m sure that for a luxury house like Dior, the decision to add another brand name to its own is not taken lightly. Doing so shows that it is committed to always being innovative and challenging.”
Items from the collection will become available from November, onwards.
