Montblanc goes live with Maison Kitsuné
Hamburg-headquartered luxury goods company Montblanc, owned by Richemont, recently released a limited line of leathergoods co-created with French Japanese fashion brand, record label and café enterprise Maison Kitsuné.
The collection includes tote and clutch bags, a backpack, a document case and headphones in a specially designed all-over fox print leather (the fox, called kitsune in Japanese, represents Maison Kitsuné’s influence).
According to Montblanc’s website, the leather used is chrome-tanned, dyed through split calfskin with saffiano texture.
An exclusive soundtrack by Parisian house music producer Matveï (signed to the French Japanese brand’s label) has also been made available in vinyl and on Spotify to accompany the collection.
Montblanc chief executive, Nicolas Baretzki, told reporters in Paris that he intends to guide the brand in more of a lifestyle direction going forward, including a plan to reorganise its product categories.
