Douyin (Chinese TikTok) launches in-app flagship storefronts for brands

01/04/2021

China’s Douyin (TikTok), which reportedly saw its daily active users reach a peak of almost 700 million on the eve of Lunar or “Chinese” New Year (February 11), recently expanded its e-commerce offering with a “brand official flagship store” provision.

The feature includes a campaign banner, brand recommendations, vouchers, product recommendations and offline store information.

Douyin stated that its flagship stores will give brands better reach, including a predicted click-through rate increase of 250% month on month for product exposure.

The move to introduce flagship storefronts follows the app’s launch of Douyin Pay in January and the announcement that it would begin to cut ties with third-party selling platforms such as Alibaba’s Taobao and JD.com last August.
