LVMH selects artist to intern at Singapore tannery
LVMH Group has selected a French artist to spend six months in a tannery as part of its artist in residence programme, Métiers d’Art.

Raphaël Barontini, currently presenting his first solo exhibition in the US at the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, will work with the Heng Long Leather Tannery in Singapore to learn more about crocodile leather.

The tannery is a specialist in tanning and finishing of crocodile leathers for luxury leathergoods and a longstanding partner of LVMH and its brands.

Jean Baptiste Voisin, chief strategy officer of the LVMH Group, said: “Each year, the LVMH Métiers d’Art artist in residence program is a new six-month adventure during which an artist has a chance to engage deeply with a manufacturer known for its unique quality.

"The fruit of this encounter, this dialogue between the vision of the artist and the savoir-faire of the artisans, is by definition unexpected, but always intense and spectacular.

“We look forward to an equally exciting creative journey for Raphaël and the Heng Long Leather Tannery.”
