ISA TanTec celebrates ‘topping out’ and unveils Asia plans
Tannery group ISA TanTec has celebrated the last piece of the building structure being fixed - known as a ‘topping out ceremony’ - at its new tannery in Vietnam, three months after building work began.

The group already operates a Vietnamese tannery, as well as tanneries in China, Italy and the US.

Thomas Schneider, chairman of the ISA TanTec group, said: “Ten years ago, we built Saigon TanTec and it was called the project 2030. The facility will continue to be a high performer in aspect of energy and water conservation and state of the art in the coming 20 years.

“The new facility we are building will be the result of the best environmental practices from Saigon TanTec and Heshan TanTec and additionally following the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) principles. We will keep making good use of renewable energy, for example, using solar energy to heat our production water.”

Group CEO Uwe Hutzler added that following an expansion in Saigon, and with the new facility, the group is now ready to establish “something big for the mid and long-term future - TransAsia TanTec”.

He said: “Having tanneries set up in Europe, US and Asia, ISA TanTec provides a highly risk diversified setup to customers, and TransAsia TanTec will contribute to this in future.

“With TransAsia TanTec, we want to be ahead of the time and prepared for the upcoming growth. Also, we are convinced that, while there is an accelerated movement of industries especially from China to Vietnam, it is exactly the right timing to have a second tannery in Vietnam.”
