ISA TanTec breaks ground at new Vietnam tannery site
Leather manufacturing group ISA TanTec held a ground-breaking ceremony for its second tannery in Vietnam, TransAsia TanTec, on June 10. The event marked the official beginning of construction of the facility, which will cover 28,500 square-metres and will be the group’s fifth tannery.

The group’s executive chairman, Tom Schneider, said at the ceremony that the project should be complete by December 2019. He added: “The project takes place on familiar ground, close to our already successful Saigon TanTec tannery. The transfer of knowledge and experience will be easier than across borders.”

Chief finance officer for ISA TanTec in Vietnam, Jens Kaufhold, explained that one of the biggest benefits from having Saigon TanTec only 50 minutes away will be that the group will be able to staff TransAsia TanTec by promoting talented people from within. He said: “We have the luxury of a highly skilled and trained labour pool from our sister company. We can allocate the core management team and supervisor level from there.”
