The site, in Tay Ninh province in the south of Vietnam, close to the business hub of Ho Chi Minh City and to the group’s existing Vietnamese tannery in Binh Duong province, covers 61,500 square-metres. In a first construction phase, ISA TanTec will erect manufacturing facilities, a wastewater treatment plant, a workers’ dormitory, a canteen and parking spaces.
This initial construction project will cover 28,500 square-metres, leaving plenty of room for further expansion at the site.
On making the announcement, ISA TanTec’s chief operating officer in Asia, Tiago Horn, said: “The floor layout of the new tannery is set up by following lean principles, based on a study led by Porsche Consulting and ISA. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) will be implemented from the beginning to collect smart data, which will lay the foundation for an Industry 4.0 approach.”
