Farfetch gives a second life to designer handbags

14/05/2019
Specialist e-commerce platform for the luxury fashion industry Farfetch is testing out a new service that gives shoppers the option to trade in their unwanted designer handbags in exchange for credit.

Through the initiative, known as Farfetch Second Life, customers can upload photos of their pre-owned products. They will then be quoted a price within two days. The piece is collected for free by the company and once validated the price is converted to online credit that can be used to purchase items on the Farfetch platform.

It is currently being tested out through a pilot scheme in the UK and select European countries. Among the brands whose products are accepted are Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, Hermès and Chanel.

Farfetch has said it is “working on a broader initiative” that would allow shoppers to trade in other luxury items.
