Burberry backs new Farfetch technology accelerator

20/04/2018
Online platform for luxury brands Farfetch has announced a new technology accelerator programme, which it is calling Dream Assembly. The Portuguese company says its aim is to provide mentoring, networking and early-stage funding opportunities for technology start-ups, and to connect them to luxury fashion brands.

Dream Assembly will be based at Farfetch’s offices in Lisbon and will offer workshops on subjects such as e-commerce, marketing, fashion and logistics. There will also be one-to-one sessions with senior Farfetch people. The programme will last 12 weeks.

Burberry is the first brand to partner with Farfetch to provide modules for the Dream Assembly programme. Burberry’s senior vice-president for digital commerce, Daniel Heaf, commented: “We believe open innovation, collaboration and sharing our expertise with earlier-stage companies will encourage more creativity across the whole luxury sector. We are excited to support the most promising companies of tomorrow.”

Applications for start-ups to join the Dream Assembly are now open; start-ups interested in making an impression on the luxury sector have until June 10 to apply.

Launched by Portuguese entrepreneur José Neves in 2008, Farfetch connects customers in 190 countries with bags, shoes, accessories and clothes from more than 700 boutiques and brands. Burberry launched a new partnership with the e-commerce platform in February 2018.
