Leathergoods lead LVMH to record results

Luxury group LVMH has reported revenue of €46.8 billion in 2018, an increase of 10% compared to the previous year. Its profit on this revenue was €10 billion, up 21% year-on-year. 

Its fashion and leathergoods business brought in revenue of more than €18.4 billion, an increase of 19% compared to 2017. This segment brought in more than 39% of the group’s overall revenue. It also contributed profit of more than €5.9 billion, nearly 60% of LVMH’s total profit. 

Discussing the highlights from this segment, LVMH pointed to “exceptional performance” from the Louis Vuitton brand and an “excellent first full year within LVMH” for Christian Dior. There was continued progress at Celine and Loewe, while LVMH said Berluti and Rimowa “continued their dynamic momentum”. 

Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, said: “LVMH had another record year, both in terms of revenue and results. The desirability of our brands, the creativity and quality of our products, the unique experience offered to our customers, and the talent and the commitment of our teams are the Group’s strengths and have once again made the difference.”
