Aston Martin to employ 700 people at new plant

Luxury automotive company Aston Martin has said that it expects to employ 300 people at its new manufacturing facility in Wales within a year and 700 by spring 2020.

The company announced earlier in the year that the site, located in the village of St Athan, will be its “home of electrification” and will be responsible for production of its first electric car, the Rapide E.

Another vehicle, the luxury Lagonda car, will also be made there from 2021.

The Lagonda brand is more than 100 years old and was acquired by Aston Martin as long ago as 1947. The company has been working to restore the Lagonda brand and has now decided to make it “the world’s first luxury marque exclusively driven by zero emission powertrain technologies”.
