Delvaux celebrates its roots with miniature collection

20/09/2017
Luxury leathergoods brand Delvaux has paid tribute to its Belgian roots with a new range of miniature handbags based on its signature design, the Brilliant, which was created in 1958.

The limited-edition products are wearable charms measuring just 7 x 8.5 x 5cm. That hasn’t stopped the brand from upholding the highest levels of craftsmanship to create them; they have been created by its team of artisans at its atelier in Brussels.

Each one has 185 different leather components and takes twice as long to craft than the original Brilliant handbag. They are made from box calf leather.

Delvaux describes the seven different designs as “cheery little ambassadors of Belgitude”. They include the Anvers, which features 77 dots in the colours of the Belgian flag, and the Bruxelles, which takes its inspiration from the Atomium, a giant structure created for the 1958 Brussels World Fair.

There are also more playful designs inspired by the country’s rich gastronomical heritage, with sugar waffles, chips and mussels all on the menu.

Established in the Belgian capital in 1829, Delvaux lays claim to be the oldest luxury leathergoods brand in the world, having operated continuously for almost 190 years.
