Delvaux to double capacity to meet growing demand

26/03/2018
Luxury leathergoods brand Delvaux is to open a new production facility in Avoudrey, in France’s eastern Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region.

This workshop, which will begin production in October, will be the brand’s third, joining those it already operates in Brussels and in Bourg-Argental in central France. It will have 100 employees, doubling Delvaux’s current workforce.

The company has explained that this doubling of its production capacity comes in response to increased demand for its products.

Delvaux has also announced it will open its first store in the US in October. It will be located on New York’s famous Fifth Avenue, home to a number of high-end stores.

In addition, it will open its third store in London and its first in Milan during 2018.

“We continue to strongly invest in savoir-faire and in accelerating our global footprint in terms of stores,” explained Jean-Marc Loubier, chief executive of Delvaux’s parent company First Heritage Brands.

Mr Loubier said that the brand typically opens four or five new stores each year. He added that international sales now make up 85% of the company’s business, up from just 3% seven years ago.

Established in the Belgian capital in 1829, Delvaux lays claim to be the oldest luxury leathergoods brand in the world, having operated continuously for almost 190 years.
