New director for Milan leathergoods exhibition
Italy’s leathergoods manufacturers’ association AIMPES has announced that Danny D’Alessandro has taken over as the new director of the Mipel exhibition, which takes place twice a year in Milan, co-located with the Micam footwear show.

He took up his new position on September 1. The next edition of Mipel takes place from September 17-20.

Mr D’Alessandro, who previously worked as a lawyer and academic, joined AIMPES less than a year ago. He said at the time of the announcement that he believes “a combination of the old and the new” will be the best recipe for relaunching Mipel.

Keeping the old, he said, should centre on leathergoods manufacturers and brands, while looking at the new will involve finding the best ways to use e-commerce and social media to enhance these companies’ ability to do business in the market of today.
