US beef exports in October were valued at $559.5 million, a 10% increase year-on-year, according to the latest statistics compiled by the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF). The volume of exports was up 12% to 105,938 tonnes.

For January to October, the total volume of beef exported from the US was 954,868 tonnes, a 9% increase on the same period last year. The value of these exports was 3% higher at $5.1 billion.
October saw a record performance for US beef exports to Taiwan, with volume up 90% on the previous year. There was also a 40% increase in the volume of exports to Japan and a 63% increase in exports to South Korea.

“It is imperative that we work to expand global demand and accelerate the volume of product entering the international markets,” said Philip Seng, USMEF president and CEO. “USMEF has intensified its marketing efforts in key destinations and capitalized on opportunities to regain market share – not only in mainstay markets such as Japan, Mexico and South Korea, but in a wide range of countries.”
