Luxury goods brand Gucci has apologised for sending letters to shops in Hong Kong warning them not to sell paper replicas of its products as offerings to the dead.

A letter from parent company Kering said that no legal action would be taken and that it didn’t believe that the shops were trying to infringe on the Gucci trademark.

"We regret any misunderstandings that may have been caused and sincerely apologise to anyone we may have offended through our action," the letter said.
