23/02/2016

Exhibitors at tannery and footwear machinery fair Simac Tanning Tech, under way in Milan, are focusing more intently on solutions developed to reduce environmental impact and control energy costs, according to the president of the show, Gabriella Marchioni Bocca.

This year’s event will feature a Reverse Shoe workshop featuring footwear artisans and the Future Shoe space, showcasing what factories could look like.

More than 271 exhibitors from 20 countries will showcase their latest technology, and organisers are expecting 25 delegations from all over the world.

Around 35 from Iraq’s leather-footwear sector will be in attendance, as well as a government delegation from Nigeria, a delegation from Peru and one from India.

"We have optimised the exhibition layout and developed services for exhibitors and visitors to guarantee greater fruition of the product offer and create an ever more functional context in which to do business,” said Tanning Tech CEO Amilcare Baccini.

World Leather will be reporting from the show this week.
