Buffalo leather popular at Première Vision New York

Remy Carriat has said customers at Première Vision New York were particularly interested in water buffalo and nubuck hides, as well as colourful leathers.

The French tannery was among 30 leather suppliers in a new leather section at the US show, which took place on January 19 and 20.

Marie Hiriart Carriat from the tannery said: “It was a good show, especially since it was a new one for leather. We worked with more handbag and shoe designers here. We’re looking forward to July’s autumn-winter show, where leather is even more important.”

Handbag designer Odile Berard, of Marie Odile for Soltek, said the coloured leathers were interesting. “There were oranges, blues and greens, a really beautiful selection. I also looked in the accessories area for tasteful solutions to placing logos on the bag exteriors.”
