Stahl and India’s CSIR-CLRI team up on research
Chemicals maker Stahl India and the Indian CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute have signed a ‘letter of intent’, agreeing to collaborate on ‘resource conservation technology’ and joint research and development in bioprocessing.

Tuncay Deriner, managing director of Stahl India, said the group has the “innovation, power and expertise” to support Indian tanneries in making their production processes more sustainable.

He said: “Stahl and CSIR-CLRI believe that only by working together, a significant change in the industry can be realised.”

Dr A B Mandal, director of CSIR-CLRI, added: "Ultimately, we hope this stimulates the entire leather sector to be associated with CSIR-CLRI to ensure the Indian leather industry remains competitive worldwide.”
