Mr Andretta has held senior roles at a number of prominent leathergoods brands, including Lanvin, LVMH and the Gucci Group. He has also served as the chief executive of Italian jewellery brand Buccellati.
He joined the board of Mulberry as a non-executive director in June 2014 and has also offered advice in a consultancy capacity to the UK brand on a review of its expansion into overseas markets. Mulberry has now announced that Mr Andretta will become its new chief executive on April 7.
Godfrey Davis, Mulberry’s chairman, has been interim chief executive since Bruno Guillon stepped down from the role with immediate effect in March 2014. He said that Thierry Andretta was “the outstanding candidate” to take over. “He has a wealth of fashion and luxury goods experience and an ability to drive our ambitious plans for international growth,” Mr Davis added.
